Developed during the second year of the BA Design programme at Goldsmiths, University of London, SketchBot 1.0 was created in response to the Serpentine Gallery's Slow AI brief. The project investigates how artificial intelligence can support slower, more reflective creative practices rather than prioritising speed and efficiency.
Grounded in research surrounding flow states, delayed gratification, and the role of the sketchbook as a space for experimentation, SketchBot reimagines AI as a creative companion instead of an instant solution. Built through an exploration of Visual Studio, the prototype introduced intentional pauses, reflective prompts, and structured interactions that encouraged designers to spend more time thinking, sketching, and developing ideas before engaging with AI-generated responses.
